Outings, shopping & restaurants

Ålesund
Visit the beautiful art nouveau town of Ålesund, with colourful houses set on the water and good restaurants and shopping. For the best views of the town, and beyond to the islands and open sea, you can climb the 418 steps to the Mount Aksla viewpoint.

Geiranger
We highly recommend taking a day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage of Geiranger. After enjoying a coffee in the village, take the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt and see the spectacular waterfalls along the fjord, including the famous Seven Sisters waterfall.

Stranda
The town centre in Stranda is only a few minutes drive away, and has everything you need, including supermarkets, restaurants, a bakery and other local shops & services. It's a pleasant, non-touristy town, and from here you can also take the ferry to Liabygda & Valldal on the other side of Storfjord.

After leaving Australia and living in London for many years, we left city life behind to raise our daughters in Andorra, in the Pyrenees mountains. We love life outdoors and spend as much of our spare time as we can skiing, hiking, mountain biking & rock climbing. We can't wait to share our latest adventure with you, in the Sunnmøre Alps in the heart of Norway's western fjords.
Fun fact: we were featured in the local newspaper - apparently some of the local people were curious to know why a couple of Aussies decided to buy a house in Stranda!
